Don Juan Coffee, Chocolate, and Sugar Cane Group Tour – Monteverde
Monteverde is famous for its coffee, and on a tour, you will learn about the history of this important crop in Costa Rica.
There are several tours to choose from. An excellent one that we have enjoyed ourselves is Don Juan.
This is a three-part tour where you’ll get to learn how coffee and chocolate are made, and how sugar cane is processed, while having the opportunity to taste samples along the way.
The tour is very interactive. A bilingual guide will take you around the plantation, showing you how they grow the crops and process at each stage using traditional methods. You’ll have a chance to pick coffee beans, make chocolate, and grind sugarcane juice by hand. You’ll also have the option to ride in a classic Costa Rican oxcart.
Cost of Group Tour (15-25 people max): $36 per person adults; $18 per person children ages 7-12. Rates plus 13% tax. Kids under 7 are free.
*This tour has a 4 person minimum.
**If you have less than 4 people, you can book the Don Juan private tour with only your family/group.
