Surf Lessons – Playa Jaco

Jaco is a famous surfing destination in Costa Rica and has consistent waves throughout the year. Whether you are a complete beginner or have some experience in the water already, a surf lesson on Jaco Beach will be fun and educational.

The surf company that we recommend has instructors who are patient, encouraging, and emphasize water safety. Their goal is to get you up on the board, hone your skills, and help you develop an awareness of the ocean, beach, and board.

We’ve done lessons with our kids and they loved it. Our youngest son who is just learning, was confidently up on the board in no time. And our oldest son honed his skills on some green waves.

If you’re new to surfing, they will start the lesson with a short explanation on technique. They have a mat that they put on the sand that’s great for learning correct positioning and how to pop up on the board. 

Professional photos are available for purchase after the lessons.

Cost: $58 per person plus 13% tax

Offered: Times are based on high tide. We will let you know the start time by email.

Duration: 1.5 hours (approximate)

Includes: Professional instructor, surfboard, and rash guard. The surf company will have a tent set up with shade for anyone who wants to watch the lessons.

*Transportation is not available. If you won’t have a rental car, we recommend taking a taxi.
